Hair Crush: Rosie Huntington-Whiteley Reveals Beachy Chop

beauty news March 26, 2013

Rosie Huntington-Whiteley has been seen out and about enjoying the Malibu sunshine lately and has now taken the beachy lifestyle one step further, with her hair. Gradually lightening the colour over recent months to a brighter blonde, the British model was seen out this week wearing a noticeably shorter style with tousled surf style waves. We love this fresh new look on her and it makes the perfect low to no maintenance summer style. Encourage some natural movement in your own hair by applying a surf spray like Bumble and Bumble surf spray (£20.50) to damp hair before allowing the hair to air dry. Blonde shampoos will help to enhance the natural highlights in your hair, while purple toned shampoos like Lee Stafford bleach blonde shampoo (£11.95) will neutralise yellow or brassy tones in blonde hair. Shop a selection of our favourite blonde hair shampoos below.

The DIY Duchess of Cambridge Blow Dry

beauty news March 13, 2013

Kate Middleton's big, bouncy and luxurious looking blow dry is one of the most requested styles at hairdressers, so how excited would you be if we told you it is actually very easy to achieve yourself at home? All you need is the hottest new hair appliance right now called a 'hot air styler', which is a rotating hairbrush that blows out heat while you style the hair in the same way a hairdresser would blow dry your hair professionally! These hot air stylers like the Babyliss big hair (£45) and Vidal Sassoon shine envy hot pro air styler (£34.99) add volume and shine to the hair and the heat they give off is equivalent to a hair dryer, which means they are less damaging than ceramic straighteners when it comes to creating an everyday polished style!

We still wouldn't be without our trusty ceramic straightening irons of course, GHD ceramic straighteners (£110) are still in our opinion, one of the best. Similarly, now that we're moving into summer, we love to create carefree Coachella style locks with a waving tong like the Tresemme professional volume tong (£24.91). Shop hot air stylers for the must-have Kate Middleton blow-dry below.

Beauty Crush: Kate Middleton's Pregnancy Glow

Shopping News March 11, 2013

The Duchess of Cambridge and her sister Pippa love to look sunkissed all year round. Their signature bronzed glow or the 'middle-tan' as it has been called is nothing new, however now that Kate Middleton is expecting and we are moving into spring, there has never been a better time to boost your bronzing routine and if you're expecting like Kate, help enhance that pregnancy glow! Achieve the most natural tan with our top bronzing tips and shop some of our favourite bronzers from Selfridges beauty hall, below!

Source: Getty

Application
Even the most expensive bronzer will look bad if the application is wrong. Often a bronzer can appear too 'orangey' simply because the application was too heavy-handed. A large fluffy bronzing brush like the EcoTools bronzer brush (£9.99) is essential kit. Always tap off the excess powder on the brush before applying to the skin. Apply bronzer to either side of your face in a light 3 motion, from across your forehead to your temple, from your cheekbones up to your temples and from your temples down to your jawline.

Colour
When it comes to bronzer colour, the lighter shade the better because this way you are guaranteed a more natural result and are less likely to over apply. Truly fair and porcelain skin tones can find it hard to find light and natural looking bronzers, our favourites for fair skin are Bourjois Delice de Poudre bronzing powder 51 (£6.99), Laura Mercier bronzing powder in dune bronze (£26) and MAC bronzing powder in golden (£19).

Highlight

Bronzer is the best way to give your skin instant radiance and luminosity, while matte bronzers are better for contouring because when used all over the face they can leave the skin looking dull and flat. Powder bronzers with subtle shimmers are a year-round staple, our essentials are Nars laguna bronzer (£26), Guerlain Terracotta light sheer bronzing powder in blondes (£34) and Bobbi Brown bronzing powder in golden light (£25.28)

Springtime Scents for Mother's Day

beauty news March 06, 2013

It's Mother's day on Sunday and we think the perfect gift to give is fragrance because it's a luxury item you're least likely to buy for yourself! That being said, fragrance is a very subjective thing, so when buying for others it's best to go for fragrances with either soft floral, fruit or vanilla notes as these are the most universally popular and perfect for spring.

For beautiful fresh florals suitable for everyday, we love Marc Jacobs Daisy, Chanel Coco Mademoiselle and Chloé Love which is a divine milky floral. There are also some fantastic fragrance sets which make great gifts, check out ones by Estee Lauder and Clarins below. Alternatively, if you're looking for a very specific scent or particular note 'rose' for example, Jo Malone should not be missed and all fragrances come in gorgeous gift boxes.

Shop a wide selection of fragrance suitable for Mother's day at House of Fraser below.

Our favourite mother Victoria Beckham and baby Harper. Victoria prefers her fragrance to be warm and floral with notes of lily and rose.
