Did you manage to catch the Burberry AW'13 live show earlier? Or maybe you would just like to see it again and frankly we don't blame you! Because it comes as no surprise that Christopher Bailey's hotly anticipated London Fashion Week show certainly lived up to expectations. Showcasing an incredible model army including Cara Delevingne, Edie Campbell, Jourdan Dunn and Karlie Kloss walking the catwalk in monochrome and animal prints with gorgeous metallic accents, the show did not disappoint injecting a glamorous spark into our autumn wardrobes!
Official Burberry make-up artist Wendy Rowe told us backstage about the collection: "There's a definite nod to the 60's with the collection, so I wanted to give the girls a strong eye, but also light, luminosity and glimmer to reflect the gold accents in the designs." Wendy also gave us a little tip before watching the show. "Take a good look at the prints. Just when you think it's animal print or polka dots, it's a print made up of different sized hearts. Super sweet!"
But of course it wasn't just the designs or models that caught our attention but the front row. Attracting a huge array of stars including Rosie Huntington-Whiteley, Olivia Palmero, Tinie Tempah, Rita Ora and Anna Wintour to name just a few of our favourites. Enjoy the spectacular show once again below!
Last night the Evening Standard Theatre Awards took place in London and in addition to a star studded red carpet there was also a whole host of big fashion names in attendance. The event was hosted in association with Burberry, but Christopher Bailey wasn't the only designer present. He was joined by Peter Pilotto, Nicholas Kirkwood, and Jonathan Saunders. Celebrities spotted there included Cara Delevigne, Anna Wintour, Colin and Livia Firth, Gemma Arterton and Tinie Tempah. Click through to see photos from the awards.
Last night, Vogue hosted a party at Chateau Marmont in Los Angeles for the 2012 CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund. The party had an impressive guest list that included Victoria Beckham, Jennifer Aniston, Gwen Stefani, January Jones, Katy Perry, Anna Wintour and Rosie Huntington-Whiteley. The event was hosted by West Coast Vogue editor Lisa Love (you may remember her from The Hills) and presented the designers nominated for this year's fashion fund. The designers were required to create something inspired by Breakfast at Tiffany's or The Great Gatsby. Finalists include Tabitha Simmons and Jennifer Meyer. The pinnacle of London Fashion Week for the last few seasons has been the Burberry presentation and this time was no exception. As always, the show was streamed online around the world meaning everybody got the chance to get a front row seat. This season, Christopher Bailey brought a full rainbow of colours to the catwalk starting with white before introducing much brighter, jewel tones. This collection seemed to mark a shift in Burberry's aesthetic with Bailey commenting that it's, "a little bit sassier, a little bit sexier, and a little bit more joyful". Of course the classic trench was present but much cleaner and more chic than previous seasons. It was presented with futuristic capes, delicate lace and metallics. Handbags were much more prevalent than before in bright coloured perspex alongside equally as eye catching footwear. The front row was typically celebrity packed with a sharply dressed Harry Styles gaining the most attention. He sat beside Anna Wintour, Tali Lennox, Alison Mosshart, Victoria Pendleton and photographer Mario Testino. Click through to see photos from the show.
We know you don't always have time to trawl the internet to find out what's going on in the fashion world, so we've rounded up some of the most important stories and brought them all together here. Enjoy! The Headlines
The ShopStyle Europe team has grown so much in the last few months, that this week we decided that we needed new "official" photos. I called on help from Alistair Guy who has been described as "the industry’s coolest up-and-coming photographer". He has previously shot such beautiful women as Erin O'Connor, Chloe Sevigny and Roisin Murphy, so I thought he'd be a great fit. He came over to our HQ in West London and took photos of each of us in the office and on the roof of the building, which offered surprisingly spectacular views. It was interesting to see how different we all looked even before seeing the finished photograph.
The modern office is a minefield when deciding what to wear. You are no longer always required to go for a formal suit, but you don't want to look so casual that you might not be doing any work either! It was interesting to see how our team photos reflected that with a variety of ensembles which included statement earrings, funky prints, a big boss blazer and a sexy secretary blouse. This ended up working well as it injected personality in to the photos and also reflected our roles within ShopStyle. Some were more formal than others, some were more glam, but one thing was universal – we all felt uncomfortable!
Of course, Alistair worked hard to make us relax to ensure he got the best images and we were definitely having fun. After he left, I was immediately impatient to see the results. I don't know what I was expecting, maybe that I had some secret model skills and a camera would leave me looking just like Kate Moss? Maybe the only reason that I wasn't a world famous supermodel was that I hadn't been snapped by the right photograher yet. I mean, that happens right? Well, maybe it does, but not to me. The photos were great, but sometimes looking at images of yourself is a little too scrutinizing. There are 4 photos that I'm happy with, which seems to be an average across the team. This isn't because of anything Alistair had control over, just that I had issues with myself! I'm not normally this neutoric, but who knew my mouth looked like that? Am I too young to have crows feet? I guess the catwalks of Paris and Milan will wait...
Jimmy Choo menswear – The footwear brand recently opened a menswear boutique in Burlington Arcade in London. I am a particular fan of these trainers.
Supermodels in Harper's Bazaar – Naomi, Helena and Cindy looking fabulous dressed up as Duran Duran for the British glossy. Must be the most talked about shoot of the week.
TOWIE clothing lines – Amy Childs launched hers, then Lauren Pope for Little Mistress and next week Sam and Billie's line for House of Fraser will be unveiled. Which one are you the most excited about?
Anna Wintour – the editrix celebrated her 62nd birthday this week. To mark the occasion, Fashionologie managed to locate 62 photos of her smiling here.
Karl Lagerfeld for Sephora – The designer has created a capsule collection of colour cosmetics including nail polish and eye shadow for Sephora which launches on 6th November. The collaboration also includes a snow-globe and a doll of himself. Only Karl...
