Okay so you know where we are going with this one. We are of course talking about low back dresses. The kind of design that's a superbly sexy yet still sophisticated way to reveal some skin. Anne Hathaway's pink Prada Oscars dress looked quite prim and proper from the front, but as soon as she turned around, the cross over straps and ribbon detail at her lower back was quite the pièce de résistance of her dress design. Rita Ora opted for something very similar in peach at the Birts. For the best selection of sexy back dresses, shop the look at Nelly below!
Why stop at an opportunity to wear one truly breathtaking gown when you can wear two! Which is exactly why just so many of the stars at the Oscars chose to change their outfits to attend various ultra glamorous after parties. We think it was also the chance to wear the dress they felt most comfortable and themsleves in, which says a lot about the celebs and their real personalities! The belle of the Oscars ball Jennifer Lawrence went from that full skirted Dior dress to a sexy, slinky Calvin Klein number, while Anne Hathaway equally switched up her look from prim and proper pink Prada to sparkly YSL. Fellow Les Mis star Amanda Seyfried changed from her favourite Alexander McQueen to Givenchy however interestingly, although a different colour, the two dress designs remained very similar, with a high neck we're guessing to complement her up-do. Check out the best after party outfits from our favourite Oscar stars below!
The Oscars 2013 took place in Hollywood last night and we are thrilled to see Jennifer Lawrence (as we predicted) wear a stunning strapless Dior gown! The Silver Linings Playbook star took an endearing tumble on the red carpet as she went to collect her award for best actress which completely stole the show and made us love her even more! Anne Hathaway looked sweet in simple satin pink Prada, while Jennifer Aniston went for old Hollywood glamour in striking red Valentino. Other dresses we totally adored included Reese Witherspoon who looked like a blonde bombshell in blue Louis Vuitton and Kristen Stewart and Amanda Seyfried who both went for embellished nude gowns with an ultra pretty bridal feel! With hints of monochrome and metallic, splashes of embellishment, lace and a few sheer detailing, last night at the BAFTA Awards, the celebs proved that black doesn't have to be boring! Although there were pops of colour here and there with Marion Cotillard in an exquisite bright canary yellow Dior Couture gown to Jessica Chastain's cobalt blue asymmetric dress, black still seemed to be the winning shade at the star studded red carpet event.
Anne Hathaway was on of the major winners taking home the Best Supporting Actress award for her role in Les Miserables, wearing a black floor length Burberry studded bodice gown. Supporting Actress nominee Amy Adams may have gone home empty handed, but her show stopping black lace detailed Elie Saab number definitely wins her our best dressed award!
The A-list celebs without a doubt made their fashion mark on the red carpet at last night's award show!
Hot on the heels of the Golden Globes came the Screen Actors Guild Awards this weekend and here at ShopStyle HQ we thoroughly enjoyed seeing another glamorous round of red carpet gowns! Actress du jour Anne Hathaway looked radiant and chic in a black, full-skirted prom style dress picking up an award for best supporting actress for her role in Les Misérables. Jennifer Lawrence looked equally incredible in Christian Dior winning best actress for Silver Linings Playbook despite suffering from phenomena. There was some confusion as to weather Lawrence suffered a wardrobe malfunction as it looked like her dress came apart as she went to collect her award - however after seeing the footage of the event and hearing reports from Dior denying any malfunction, suggesting that it was simply the way the dress was designed, we are team Dior on this one!
It was great to see the cast of Downton Abbey win an award for best actors for a television drama, while honorable handsome man mention (from us) goes to Ben Affleck who and the cast of Argo won outstanding performance by a motion picture. Check out our round-up of the SAGs best dressed below!
You know what they say, wait for one amazing red carpet dress and three come along at once! We are of course talking about the Golden Globes and the truly applaud worthy choice of red carpet and after party style!
Top of our best dressed goes to ShopStyle favourite Amanda Seyfried. Looking beautiful in lace Givenchy, the pretty and pure colour palette looked incredible when standing next to her Les Misérables and Golden Globe winning co-star Anne Hathaway in strapless white Chanel. Jessica Alba looked gorgeously girly in peach Oscar de la Renta accessorised with a Harry Winston diamond necklace worth a cool $5.8 million!
Mirander Kerr in plunging Zuhar Murad and Orlando Bloom in blue Burberry were the hottest couple at the Globes, while Kate Hudson also sent temperatures rising in super sexy, black Alexander McQueen. Girls star Lena Dunham similarly kept it sultry in low-cut Zac Posen. Always dressed to impress, Rosie Huntington-Whiteley looked red carpet ready wearing Saint Laurent from the SS13 collection. Check out these stars and the rest of the best dressed below!
Last night London saw the world premiere of Les Misérables and one red carpet filled with incredible high glamour! Leading ladies Anne Hathaway and Amanda Seyfried were suitably dressed to impress, Anne wearing a cream beaded floor length Givenchy gown while Amanda wowed in monochrome Balenciaga. But even guests kept to the fabulous dress code, most notably Isla Fisher in a white cut out gown and Laura Bailey in full-skirted pink satin. Here at ShopStyle HQ we're fans of the musical and can't wait to see the fim when it hits our screens in January! Check out all the pictures from the premiere below.
Anne Hathaway's dramatic weight loss for Les Miserables has been discussed at length ahead of the release of the film and last night she showed off her petite figure in Givenchy. She appeared at the world premiere of the movie in London along with fellow stars Amanda Seyfried and Hugh Jackman. Anne chose to wear a Givenchy couture dress with bat sleeves for the occasion which had a slight bridal feel. Are you a fan of this look on her?
Anne Hathaway stars on the cover of this month's US Vogue. Inside, the actress reveals her wedding dress which was designed by the house of Valentino. The dress has a hint of pink at the bottom, but isn't as brightly coloured as Jessica Biel's bridal gown. Anne cut her hair for her role in Les Mis and decided to keep it, “I feel prettier, and much more myself.” You can shop Valentino dresses below.
Sarah Jessica Parker used to be a dancer at the American Ballet Theatre so it's no surprise that she showed her support for the NYC Ballet Gala. The actress used her connections and introduced Valentino who has designed the costumes for four dance works performed at the gala. She explained the collaboration, "I started thinking about the future of the company, and what was most important was building the audience of the next generation of ticket buyers...I know that fashion tends to have a younger audience, if we could somehow marry the two ideas." SJP wore Valentino couture last night and was joined on the red carpet by Anne Hathaway who also wore a floor length Valentino gown. Anne accessorised with a sleek box clutch. Out of these two gorgeous girls, who do you think deserves to be crowned the best dressed?
