When our invites for the House of Grazia at Matches arrived on our desks we were beyond excited, our favourite weekly glossy teaming up with London's most luxe boutique throughout London Fashion Week? What's not to love?
We were greeted by gorgeous waiters serving freshly roast coffee, rhubarb smoothies and mini breakfast muffins and swiftly escorted through the beautiful Matches townhouse to hear the insatiable Henry Holland talk about his career. Henry, decked out in a vivacious Kit Neale lobster shirt, started off by talking us through his inspiration for his new collection 'Rave Nana'. He explained that it was inspired by the girls of East London who have Grandma inspired blue rinses and top knots! He commented that he aimed to combine 70's wallpaper prints and rave colours. When asked about his future plans for the label he told us about his hectic travel schedule that involved five countries in as many weeks! Holland was most excited about teaming up with Australian label Sportsgirl which is like Topshop down under. You can buy four key pieces from his AW13 collection on eBay now!
Next up was a Q&A with Heather Berry of Nails Inc who gave us the low down on the latest trends for our nails! Berry explained that they take a lot of inspiration directly from catwalks and the process of concept to creation can take as little as four weeks. She showed us glossy rainbow wheels of the hottest nail trends featuring everything from leather and feather effects to the highly anticipated denim range! Lastly, Heather confirmed what we've always believed... 'I always say with nails - its the last element of your outfit that you put on. I would never go out without my nails done.'
To close the day was the hilariously entertaining Sara Blonstein of creative production agency Blonstein and Associates. Decked out in head to toe Zara stripes (inspired by Marc Jacobs she noted) she regaled us with witty stories from her 25 years experience in producing catwalk shows. Responsible for housing the Topshop show in the disused Eurostar Terminal and putting the Truman Brewery on the map with her innovative Hussein Chalayan shows in the 90's, she is a veritable creative force in the fashion world. Sara talked us through the pitfalls of producing catwalks: lack of power, terrible toilet facilities, automated curtain mishaps, celebrity co-ordination, blagging to get into shows and cat-fights in queues. And the highs: working in amazing venues, facilitating amazing venues for small designers and working with the Fashion East and New Gen teams. The most important thing we learnt? 'Anna Wintour will NOT go South of the river'
Beyonce's outfit at the Super Bowl caused some controversy this week not because of its daring nature, but because it was made by unknown designer Rubin Singer from python, panelled iguana and leather. Whatever your thoughts on this controversial combination, we have to admit we thought the laser cut design itself was pretty fantastic and have found some similar designs if you're inspired to try the look! The Muubaa laser cut jacket (£399) adds a feminine feel to the typical leather jacket look, while the Drome Paisley Leather Cut Coat (£895) at Matches in adorable orange is just the perfect pick for spring!

If you're in a mid season slump or are a little confused about which trends to buy in to, we've got the perfect wishlist for you. These are the items that have been flying off the shelves in Matches and are sure to be spotted all over town. We especially love these Alexander McQueen pink cigarette trousers (£495) and Rika's snake print skirt (£175). You can shop more of the wishlist below.
With the much anticipated arrival of the Emilia Wickstead collection at Matches, the hero story last week was the Ladylike. Dresses with high necklines and flared skirts ruled as did more slim fitting styles with pieces from Erdem, Issa, Jonathan Saunders (the Evelyn dress (£840) below was spotted on the Duchess of Cambridge last week), Roksanda Ilincic, Alexander McQueen, Nina Ricci and Carven selling incredibly well.
In a further nod to the Ladylike trend, the court shoe was another one of our strongest stories – every dress needs an amazing pair of heels after all! Our diverse selection in faux-leather crocodile, glitter, suede and snake print from Stella McCartney, Lucy Choi London, Sergio Rossi, Givenchy, Pierre Hardy, Giuseppe Zanotti, Gianvito Rossi, and Charlotte Olympia are fresh and modern interpretations of this classic style and are an incredibly versatile investment.
Petite bags and clutches are a great way to complete a look and our edit of bold coloured leather, lace, perspex, metallic hues, water snake and suede from DVF, Christian Louboutin, Givenchy, YSL and Sophie Hulme are the some of the season’s favourite styles that are receiving a lot of interest.
Finally, collars are one of this season’s key trends, giving your look a polished, contemporary feel and last week pieces from Jonathan Saunders and Carven sold very well.
You can shop some of the pieces mentioned below.
Jessica Ennis is still beaming from ear to ear following her incredible gold medal win last weekend. She attended a party earlier in the week hosted by Omega so we got to see her all dolled up. Jessica wore a sleeveless pink skater dress by Alexander McQueen for the occasion accessorising with a black waist belt and patent heels. She was also spotted arriving with some Mulberry arm candy. Her dress is now 50% in the sale, and you can also shop similar styles below.
