There are so many new styles of sunglasses for SS'13 we are spoilt for choice! From Prada's cat's eye, Anna Sui's retro Barbie to Dolce & Gabbana's cute and quirky, it's going to be a summer full of fun frames! But for now, a good pair to invest in which won't look out of place during an unseasonally cool spring is a pair of mirror or reflective styles. Recreate Alessandra Ambrosio's effortlessly cool street style with a pair of Marc by Marc Jacobs MMJ/ 227S Aviators (£85). Shop more must-have reflective frames from both highstreet and designer brands including Michael Kors, Ray-Ban, River Island and Dorothy Perkins below.
Okay so you know where we are going with this one. We are of course talking about low back dresses. The kind of design that's a superbly sexy yet still sophisticated way to reveal some skin. Anne Hathaway's pink Prada Oscars dress looked quite prim and proper from the front, but as soon as she turned around, the cross over straps and ribbon detail at her lower back was quite the pièce de résistance of her dress design. Rita Ora opted for something very similar in peach at the Birts. For the best selection of sexy back dresses, shop the look at Nelly below!
Why stop at an opportunity to wear one truly breathtaking gown when you can wear two! Which is exactly why just so many of the stars at the Oscars chose to change their outfits to attend various ultra glamorous after parties. We think it was also the chance to wear the dress they felt most comfortable and themsleves in, which says a lot about the celebs and their real personalities! The belle of the Oscars ball Jennifer Lawrence went from that full skirted Dior dress to a sexy, slinky Calvin Klein number, while Anne Hathaway equally switched up her look from prim and proper pink Prada to sparkly YSL. Fellow Les Mis star Amanda Seyfried changed from her favourite Alexander McQueen to Givenchy however interestingly, although a different colour, the two dress designs remained very similar, with a high neck we're guessing to complement her up-do. Check out the best after party outfits from our favourite Oscar stars below!
The Oscars 2013 took place in Hollywood last night and we are thrilled to see Jennifer Lawrence (as we predicted) wear a stunning strapless Dior gown! The Silver Linings Playbook star took an endearing tumble on the red carpet as she went to collect her award for best actress which completely stole the show and made us love her even more! Anne Hathaway looked sweet in simple satin pink Prada, while Jennifer Aniston went for old Hollywood glamour in striking red Valentino. Other dresses we totally adored included Reese Witherspoon who looked like a blonde bombshell in blue Louis Vuitton and Kristen Stewart and Amanda Seyfried who both went for embellished nude gowns with an ultra pretty bridal feel! Check out the very best dressed at the Oscars 2013 in our gallery below!
Life suddenly felt a little more fabulous here at ShopStyle HQ when French brand Vestiaire Collective came on board a few weeks ago. You may have noticed it yourself, but the site is suddenly awash with designer handbags most notably, Chanel. A designer re-sale site, where you can pick up clothes, shoes and handbags at a great price, Vestiaire Collective has become our new obsession checking the site for one-off new arrivals as often as we do our favourite fashion blogs!
Not just Chanel of course, the site boasts more names than all the recent fashion weeks put together, Prada, Louis Vuitton, Dior and Balenciaga to name just a few! Browse the incredible selection of designer handbags below including some of those Chanel designs we would love to get our hands on!
Sunglasses let's face it you can never have too many. This time of year the hippie or neon Wayfarer's you were wearing on the festival circuit just won't cut it on the high street so it's time to invest in something a little more understated. Amanda Seyfried has the right idea here - she loves to wear Wayfarer's all year round, but knows how to mix it up with a slight variation in shape and finish like these tortoiseshell beauts. Winter sunnies don't need to be dull, express yourself through a swirly designer arm like Prada, or on-trend quirky lens shape such as Miu Miu round or Vivienne Westwood's cat eye. Shop a few of our favourites below.
Sunglasses are no longer an item reserved for rock stars and sunny days. You can wear sunglasses all year round for many occasions. It's always interesting to see what models wear in real life situations and last week Linda Evangelista arrived for a court hearing in brown winged sunglasses. The winged detailing is subtle, but still a nod to the trend this season for vintage-style sunglasses. Prada took this to another level (all of their sunglasses are causing a stir this summer) with a '50s car-themed design (£325) which are good for the fashion fearless. If you want to opt for something more subtle, then take a leaf out of Dianna Agron's book with pastel coloured shades like these cat's eye sunglasses (£16) from Topshop. Whistles has also got a great tortoiseshell pair (£45), which we love.
The MET Gala takes place in New York this evening and will be streamed live online at 6.30pm NY time (about 11.30pm in the UK). The red carpet brings together some of the world's top designers along with beautifully dressed models, actors and celebrities from around the world. The event marks the opening of the latest exhibition at the Metropolitan gallery which this year focuses on Prada and Schiaparelli. Elsa Schiaparelli is one of the key designers from the early 20th century and her fashion house looks set for a revival in 2013. This unfortunately means that you can't shop her designs right now (unless you are good at sourcing vintage), however you could mark the occasion with a Prada or Prada inspired purchase.
We are obsessed with these round frame sunglasses (£215) which are sure to have a very low cost per wear! Alternatively, if your budget doesn't stretch that far then opt for a High Street take on Prada's spring collection with this car print top (£26). Don't worry if you miss out on the live stream, we'll bring you all the action from the red carpet tomorrow. Shop more cool spring pieces below.
This weekend, one of our favourite style icons Carey Mulligan tied the knot with her childhood sweetheart Marcus Mumford! The actress married the Mumford & Sons star on Saturday at a top secret ceremony on a farm in Somerset. Celebrity guests are thought to have included Colin Firth, Sienna Miller and Jake Gyllenhaal, whilst Rankin reportedly captured the moment. Although no photos have emerged from the nuptials, it was initially thought that Carey wore Versace for her big day (which seemed like a strange choice for the actress). Now more reports have confirmed that she actually wore Prada which she often wears on the red carpet (including at the 2010 Oscars). It's sure to be a custom made design, but below are some bridal-esque dresses by both Miuccia Prada and Versace. Carey wore a full-length ivory dress for the occasion whilst her eight bridesmaids wore turquoise knee-length prom dresses with matching heels. We understand that it was a private ceremony and respect the couple's privacy, but surely we could at least see a photo of the dress?! Until then, you can shop both Prada and Versace below.
We have scoured the internet for the latest news stories from the world of fashion, so these few links should see you through to the weekend. Enjoy! Headlines
