Biker Boots and Boucle Jackets at Chanel Show in Paris

Shopping News March 08, 2013

Cara Delevingne walked the Chanel AW'13 ready-to-wear show at Paris Fashion week and the collection of both monochrome and bright boucle wool jackets teamed with chain detail biker boots had an ultra modern edge while still managing to maintain traditional Coco Chanel style.

Karl Lagerfeld said about the collection: "I want her to look like what I showed you. The boots make the legs endless, and the colors going up, even if it's in darker colors, as it's better for the women, it's very uplifting."

You can channel your Chanel look into spring by shopping a boucle wool jacket, first made famous by Coco Chanel herself. Look for biker style boucle jackets with new season leather accents, perfect for spring when the weather is unreliable! Shop boucle jackets from New Look, Dorothy Perkins and Mango and team with skater skirts, skinny jeans and biker boots just like Cara Delevingne and co on the Chanel catwalk below.

Style Crush du Jour: Victoria Beckham

Celebrity News February 14, 2013

Victoria Beckham must be feeling pretty happy and relaxed right now. Both of her shows at NYFW received huge acclaim from the fashion press, her RTW collection 'Victoria, Victoria Beckham' in particular, which was an unexpected, masculine and ultra wearable line of dark colours, including jumpers and dresses with signature full length zips. It seems gone are the days of her then signature Peter Pan collars. She told Elle magazine about her designs: "The idea is that you don't have to think about it. It looks like two pieces - jumpers and skirts - but it's just one piece and you can just zip yourself up and off you go."

Victoria certainly seems to be going for this more military look when it comes to her own street style. We love this outfit which she wore between shows during NYFW. Shop her Victoria square frame sunglasses (£132.74) and Victoria Beckham zip collar coat (£791.74). We're also wild about her leopard print shoes. Shop the very similar Dune Bernie Stilettos (£73).

Made in Chelsea Girls - Shop the Looks!

April 05, 2012

They say all good things come to those who wait, so we were thrilled to see Made In Chelsea finally return to our screens with series 3. And with even bigger blow-dries, faster fashion and some hot new cast members to boot (Louboutins, obviously), we weren’t disappointed.

Made in Chelsea’s leading ladies have their own individual looks, mixing high street with designer and making their signature styles great inspiration. It's why we can’t wait for our weekly fashion fix! We've put together our own interpretations of their styles here.

And, don't forget ShopStyle and Channel 4 will be bringing you looks from each episode, so be sure to check it out at http://www.e4.com/chelsea/series3/fashion/.

Caggie Dunlop
Despite spending most of the first few seasons in a vintage white, Oscar De La Renta suit, guitar playing, singer songwriter Caggie Dunlop is in fact a hippy at heart, who feels equally comfortable dressed down in faded jeans and a baggy t-shirt as she does in designer dresses. Her daytime style is flattering and fashionable but never flashy, reflecting her down-to-earth personality. Like the rest of the cast, Caggie loves accessories, especially jewellery with aqua or blue semi-precious stones.

Millie Mackintosh
Spending most of her free time shopping, Millie looks like a model straight out of a fashion spread so it makes sense that this series sees her putting that natural sense of style to use by working as an intern at Glamour magazine. Her day-to-day look is romantic, feminine and flirty. She’s a real girls girl and is often seen in floaty chiffon fabrics and delicate lace detail. In the evening she isn’t afraid to flaunt her supermodel frame in fabulous figure- hugging dresses.

Rosie Fortescue
The definition of an English rose, Rosie Fortescue has a very similar sense of style to Kate Middleton. Her key pieces are timeless classics such as blazers, Chanel style jackets, pussy-bow blouses and well fitting shirts and trousers. Her wardrobe however isn’t only full of English reserve, after dark she reveals a wilder side, teaming leather trousers with sky-high stilettos and gothic jewellery.

Binky Felstead
Career girl Binky’s work outfits are corporate, so at the weekend she loves to relax in shorts and leggings teamed with loose fitting shirts and jumpers. She has a great figure due to a love of sports such as horse riding, so when it’s time to party she isn’t afraid to show some skin in a classic LBD. Statement sunglasses and watches are key to adding a touch of designer glamour to Binky’s dressed-down style.

Cheska Hull
Cheska Hull has an eclectic sense of style and is the girl most likely to take her evening outfits into the day due to a love of sequins and metallics. The epitome of the classic SW3 Chelsea look, she loves big hair, pearls and designer labels. As a fashion blogger, she’s up to date with the latest trends but shops mostly for glamorous evening dresses which make great investment pieces.

Amber Atherton
Fashion model and jewellery designer, Amber Atherton is an obvious style crush. Her daily look is understated and modern, skinny jeans teamed with simple cotton or silk vests, usually put together with a blazer. She favours such a simple and elegant clothing look which works best to showcase her love of jewellery - large trophy necklaces, cuffs and earrings.

BOY Lands at Selfridges

Shopping News March 06, 2012

If you're looking at this post thinking it's all about menswear then think again and don't scroll passed. BOY is a unisex brand and a key player in the cool London fashion scene. It was founded in 1977 on the King's Road (with Vivienne Westwood and Malcolm McLaren as neighbours) and has been worn by everybody from Andy Warhol to Madonna. It is now available at Selfridges with statement tees and sweaters dominating the collection. Women can wear the big t-shirts with leggings or skinny jeans and the leggings with a loose fitting top. See below to shop pieces from the latest collection.

Shop Spring Pieces at Boohoo

Retailer Promotion February 27, 2012

It was a beautiful weekend in the UK, and the mild weather looks set to continue. This has got me smiling because it means I can finally start wearing spring pieces! I am so excited for the new season because the latest pieces are so colourful. Boohoo have some cool spring pieces which won't break the bank and will instantly update your wardrobe. Below is my wishlist (although it could have been much longer). I wonder if I could wear palazzo dungarees (£25)? There are some green skinny jeans (£20), a side split maxi skirt (£20) and a green satchel (£20) which are all fighting for my attention. Which is your favourite piece?

Reversible Jeans

Trying it On February 08, 2012

As soon as I heard about Bleulab's reversible jeans (£215) I had to get a closer look. I wasn't sure exactly how they'd work – would there be pockets? Would they be heavy and awkward? What colour would they be on each side? How would they fit? I had so many questions and couldn't wait to try them out. It brings a whole new meaning to the phrase 'double denim'! Donna Ida sent over a sample in Iris and I was immediately impressed by them. They have a wax finish on the outside (which I loved) and are darker on the inside. There are pockets on the back and fake pockets on the front as well as a zip fly which flips over and double-sided button. Click through to see how I styled both sides of the Bleulab reversible detour leggings. All photographs by Kat Hannaford.

Word From the Street

Word From the Street January 12, 2012

It's still winter and it's still relatively cold, but there is some good news – we've got passed the shortest day! Now that Christmas is a distant memory and New Years' Eve is just a blur (can you even remember where you were at midnight?), it's time to move on to something new, and by something I mean clothes! Today has been deemed as Black Thursday for retailers, which means you should do your bit to boost the UK economy by buying some new clothes! Have I helped to ease the guilt yet? I think we've all hit a point of sales nausea where you've clicked through the same, sad, left over items a hundred times and are now ready to move on to something new, bright and shiny. Fittingly, this Spring is all about colours – especially yellow and pastels. This means its easy to update your wardrobe in a way that will brighten up long days of April showers. The Donna Ida lookbook recently landed on my desk and includes some gorgeous pastel skinny jeans teamed with soft, feminine separates. There were also plenty of prints in the new lookbook, which is another key trend for the coming months. Tropical prints which will leave you lusting after a Hawaiian escape were a big hit at Stella McCartney. I love this t-shirt dress (£225) which I would wear now over skinny jeans or leggings. Another spring print which has caught my eye is Carven's silk map dress (£455). You don't have to smash your piggy bank to get involved in this trend as the High Street has plenty of great options. How about this pineapple print dress (£150) from Whistles or a tropical tunic (£38) from Wallis? See below for the list of things we're loving at ShopStyle HQ this week.

  • Kate Middleton – She celebrated her 30th birthday this week and was also credited with giving the UK economy a £1billion boost! What a great start to 2012 for the future Queen.
  • Gelish nails – a bargain manicure whilst visiting our San Francisco office ($25 at a nail bar on Kearney) which keeps on impressing. It dries in 3 minutes and last 3 weeks without chipping – what more could you ask for?
  • London Fashion Weekend – It kicks off on 23rd February and we're offering 15% off tickets. We have many exciting plans for the weekend and can't wait to see you there.
  • Ted Baker – We got a sneak preview of the SS12 collection this week and it's a good one. Check out images on our Twitter profile.
  • Berlin Fashion Week – Our European friends have fared the economic crisis well which means the fashion showcase is generating more interest than ever from buyers and investors. We can't wait to see what AW12 includes.
